One Million Jobs Could be Wiped Out by Slump in Auto Sector

This Thursday, President of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) said that as consumption slowdown continues to affect the auto sector, around a million contractual jobs are under threat. He said that the slowdown is forcing value-chain operators in the auto sector to reduce production and as a result, the workforce.

Wadhera was speaking at the annual convention of SIAM when he said that so far, at least 15,000 contractual jobs in automobile manufacturing have been lost, and now a million are at risk.
