Over 2.17 Lakh Houses Sanctioned for Urban Poor

The union government has sanctioned more than 2.17 lakh houses for the urban poor in six states thus raising the total figure under the Centre’s housing scheme to 26 lakhs.

As per an official release, the Urban Affairs Ministry has approved more than 1.20 lakh houses for sanctions under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) to Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Assam, Jharkhand, and Gujrat.

The total houses sanctioned under the PMAY scheme has now increased to 26.13 lakh and will require a net investment of Rs. 1.39 lakh crore, although about Rs. 40 thousand crores have already been approved for the construction of these houses.
