PAN-Bank Account Linking Now Mandatory for Tax Refunds
The Income Tax (IT) Department has issued a public advisory in which it said that from March 2019 onwards, it will issue only “e-refunds” i.e. income tax refunds via the e-mode into the bank accounts of the taxpayers. It’s also directed the taxpayers to link their bank accounts with PAN to get the refunds safely and securely. The taxpayers can check if theirs is linked by logging into the department’s e-filing website https://www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in
Until now, the IT department was issuing tax refunds through payee cheques or directly in bank accounts.
