Petrol, Diesel Kept out of GST; to be Considered Later

Talking to the media about the historic launch of the Goods and Service Tax system, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapati Raju said that it will rejuvenate the Indian economy, adding that petroleum products such as diesel, petrol, and flight fuel, etc. have been kept out of the regime and will be decided upon later.

Raju said that the authority didn’t want to include petroleum products in the GST regime because the states were against it. He also said that for the same reason this sector won’t be able to entertain any advantages.
