Power Ministry to Consider Implementing 24 Degrees Default Setting for Air Conditions in India

In light of power wastage and health deterioration, the government is to consider making 24 degrees as the default setting for air conditions (ACs) in India in a few months, Power Minister R K Singh said.

As per an official statement, the new regulated temperature range would be 24 degrees to 26 degrees.

Singh recently launched a campaign about energy efficiency in which he said that lowering a single degree in the AC settings can result in energy saving of 6%.

India is not the first country to consider regulating the temperature range of ACs. In Japan, the government has set the limit to 28 degrees.
