Power Projects Woes: Piyush Goel Says Solution to be Found Soon
June 15, 2017
The central government is in talks with the states apart from industry stakeholders and financial institutions to get the stalled power projects up and running soon, power and coal minister Piyush Goyal said. The total capacity of these power projects is estimated to be around 35,000 MW.
Goyal said that they have found a solution for at least those power plants that meet the regulatory needs and have no defaulter promoters. He added that bankers are taking action on the closed power plants due to instances of default. As the NPAs will be addressed the power costs are also likely to come down.
