Products Sold Online Need to Show Retail Prices, More From 2018

As per the new labeling rules of the government, products sold on e-commerce portals will need to carry Maximum Retail Price (MRP) and other information effective from January 1, 2018. According to an official, this is to protect the consumers as well as to make doing business easier.

The new rules direct the online sellers to provide the following information on the products- name and address of the manufacturer, retail price, dimensions, etc. The sellers are also not allowed to display different prices for the same product.
