PSBs collected Rs. 3,300 cr Through Customer Charges in Past 4 Years
In a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State of Finance Shiv Pratap Shukla said that as much as Rs. 3,300 crores were collected by the Public Sector Banks (PSBs) in the past 4 years in the form of services charges and other kinds of charges that were levied on the customers. 

Shukla said that service/miscellaneous charges have always been levied by the banks. However, basic banking services such as Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) are offered without any charges, he added.

Shukla also said that by the end of December, around 53 crore basic savings bank accounts were recorded, out of which 30.84 crore accounts were Jan Dhan Accounts.
