Public Sector Banks Pick 41 Overseas Branches for Rationalisation

As a part of their major reform process that was initiated in light of the highly increased bad loans, the public-sector banks in the country have identified 41 overseas units that will be analyzed for rationalization.

Under the “rationalization” process, the lenders will consider a variety of factors that can help bring the costs down and improve their financial health. These include the elimination of non-core banking services and assets, reduction of the staff strength, shutting down of some offices, etc.
