Purchase of Farm Produce Below MSP to Attract Legal Action
June 15, 2017
Concerned with the agitation of the farmers in the western parts of Madhya Pradesh, state chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that he will come to their help. He said he will lay several measures for them, including criminalizing buying farm produce below the Minimum Support Price (MSP) and setting a 1,000-crore price stabilization fund for the state to buy their farm produce.
During the 2017-18 Rabi marketing season, about 6.72 million tons of wheat was purchased by MP’s procurement companies at MSP, although pan-India purchases were above 30 million tons.
