RBI Panel May Make a Case for Making all Public Payments Digital
April 26, 2019
A five-member RBI panel that was set up in January this year may recommend that all the payments made by the government to the citizens should be digital in nature, an official who is aware of the developments said. They said that this is aimed at making digital payments more popular among the people as there are still many states in India where people primarily use cash or cheques.
The committee which is led by former chairman of IRDAI Nandan Nilekani is likely to table a report next month.
