RBI to Issue New Rs. 500 Currency Notes with Inset Letter A

According to a recent report, RBI is going to issue new Rs. 500 currency notes soon. The new notes can be recognized by their inset letter A. However, the old Rs. 500 currency notes that were released in circulation after the note-ban drive will continue to be legal tender.
It is believed that the new Rs. 500 currency notes will be almost identical to the present Rs. 500 notes in design. Although the announcement of the new notes can come as a surprise as in March, RBI Deputy Governor N S Vishwanathan had said that the central bank didn’t have any such plans to release new notes in circulation.
