Rs. 2.5 Lakh cr. Worth of Loans Written off in 5 Years

As per the RBI data, Public Sector Banks have written off as much as Rs. 2.5 lakh crore worth of loans in the last 5 fiscal years.
The largest amount of written-off loans in the five fiscal years was identified in the financial year 2016-17 when it stood at Rs. 81,683 crores. While as many as 27 public sector banks including the largest lender State Bank of India were involved in the same, Punjab National Bank has written off the highest amount which is Rs. 9,205 crore.
