Say Goodbye to Discounts on Credit Card Payments at Petrol Pumps

Starting this October, credit card payments made at petrol pumps for buying fuel won’t offer 0.75% cashback as the benefit has been discontinued from October 1, 2019, State Bank of India (SBI) intimated its customers via a text message.

Bharat Petroleum, Hindustan Petroleum, and Indian Oil Corp Ltd. were earlier asked by the government to offer a 0.75% discount on fuel purchases to the users on credit/debit cards and e-wallets in a bid to push the digital economy. The scheme was launched in December 2016 i.e. after demonetization came into effect.
