SC Asks Centre to Open New Window for Depositing Banned Notes for Legitimate Reasons

The Supreme Court has asked the Reserve Bank of India and the ministry to consider opening a window for those couldn’t deposit the banned Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 notes for genuine reasons.

Saying that the government can’t “trash” someone’s hard-earned money if they couldn’t deposit the currency notes on reasonable grounds, the bench which was chaired by Chief Justice JS Khehar has asked the government to intimate it with its decision on the matter by July 17.
