Sebi Recorded 1,300 New FPIs During FY18
June 13, 2018
Market regulator Sebi registered more than 1,300 new Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) during the financial year 2017-18, an indication that the Indian market is still looked at as a lucrative investment destination. However, the financial year 2016-17 saw even higher activity as 3,500 new FPIs were registered by Sebi during the period.
As per Sebi data, the total number of FPIs touched 9,136 at the end of FY18 compared to 7,807 at the end of FY17.
Market experts say that Indian equities and bonds continue to appeal to the foreign investors which explains the increased FPI registrations.
