Shift towards digital banking is permanent

State Bank of India Chairman Rajnish Kumar said the quantity of purchasers moving ceaselessly from branch level exchanges and receiving advanced modes is expanding, and this change will be perpetual. He said presently just seven out of 100 exchanges are occurring at SBI fans as against 20 out of 100 exchanges three years ago.

Kumar said at the Global Business Summit, “Continuously, we are seeing that there has been a move away from branches and even from ATMs. The quantity of exchanges on ATMs has descended from 55 to 29 for every 100. Then again, the advanced exchanges, which are on versatile and online banking, have gone to 55 out of 100 exchanges”.

“This move is lasting and will remain. Individuals are encountering the comfort of digital and mobile banking,” he included. However, physical branches will stay as visibility helps.
