Storeking to launch modern retail stores in rural India
April 30, 2021
The new age rural customer is as optimistic as her urban counterpart. She owns a cell phone, is internet savvy, and browses for products on Google, YouTube and other media platforms. She no longer needs to purchase products moved by her local food merchant, she needs to initially contact and feel a product and then buy it.
Rural distribution organization, StoreKing (which works in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra and Telangana), is taking a look at focusing on this customer by carrying out its general store chain in rural India.
Branded as StoreKing Smart, these stores would be found for the most part in talukas or in the edges of region base camp. By end of May, the organization intends to carry out five StoreKing Smart stores in Karnataka, and 200 before the end of September.
“Rural consumers are looking for encounters which a kirana storekeeper can’t offer. They can’t find products at a kirana store as they can’t contact and feel an product and need to purchase an product that is moved to them by the storekeeper. We need to change over that into a force mode by empowering the new-gen provincial clients to pay items off the racks”, clarifies Sridhar Gundaiah, Founder and CEO, StoreKing.
