To Start Women Studies, UGC to Fund Over 10,000 Colleges

Over 10,000 institutions including universities and colleges will be given a green signal by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to offer women’s studies and help them make a contribution to the society.
UGC said that eligible colleges and universities will get grants worth ₹ 25 lakhs and 35 lakhs per year, respectively. It also said that it will review and participate in the teaching and research activities in the institutions to promote the concept of entrepreneurship among the women. The departments will also be directed to conduct field research in areas like inclusion of women in social development, gender gap analysis, etc.
