Top Social Media Platforms Could be Banned in the UK for Terrorist Content

Popular social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram may have to pay hefty fines and/or could be banned in the UK if they fail to remove content that supports child sexual exploitation, abuse, and terrorism.

UK’s Home Office said that the directors of social media companies could be held liable if they don’t remove unpermitted content from their websites within a pre-defined period. It also said that the tech companies aren’t doing enough towards discouraging the spreading of illegal content on their platforms.
