Trains “On-Demand” on Delhi-Howrah, Delhi-Mumbai to Put an End to Waiting, Says Railways
September 18, 2019
Railway Board Chairman V K Yadav said that Indian Railways will be able to run passenger trains “on-demand” to prevent unnecessary waiting on Delhi-Howrah and Delhi-Mumbai routes, two of the busiest, in the next 4 years. He said that it will be possible on the back of dedicated freight corridors by 2021.
Yadav said that once a dedicated freight corridor is constructed on the routes by 2021, cargo traffic could be moved from existing lines. This will allow Railways to run more passenger trains on them.
