Twitter acqui-hires the team from news app Brief

Twitter’s recent acquisition spree continues today as the organization reports it has acqui-hired the team from news aggregator and summary application Brief. The startup from previous Google engineers launched last year to offer a subscription based summary application that intended to handle large numbers of the problems with the present consistent pattern of news cycle, including information overload, burnout, media bias and algorithms that promoted engagement over news accuracy.

Prior to beginning Brief, co-founder and CEO Nick Hobbs was a Google item director who had dealt with AR, Google Assistant, Google’s mobile application, and self-driving vehicles, in addition to other things. Prime supporter and CTO Andrea Huey, in the meantime, was a Google senior computer programmer, who dealt with the Google iOS application and had an earlier spell at Microsoft.

While Brief’s ambitious project to fix news consumption showed a great deal of guarantee, its development might have been hampered by the membership model it had adopted. The application required a $4.99 each month responsibility, in spite of not having the brand-name draw of a more traditional news outlet.
