January 12, 2018
Even as the union government shows promptness in providing the benefits of a variety of social welfare schemes to the deserving individuals, a minimum of Rs. 1.25 lakh crores worth of subsidy dues, about 80% of which are related to food, remain unpaid to the appointed agencies. As a result of that, it’s believed that the financial numbers for the next Budget will take a hit.
The food subsidy claimed by state governments is provided by the central government between 3 to 6 months depending on their submission of utilization certificates.
