Up to 200,000 Seats to be Added in 158 Universities Under EWS Quota

According to sources, the government is looking to add a whopping 200,000 seats in 158 Central Educational Institutions (CEIs) across India to implement the 10% reservation quota that it had approved earlier for the Economically Weaker Section of the society.

Permission has been sought from the Election Commission by the HRD Ministry so that it can table the proposal in the Cabinet, sources said. They also said that a funding of 4,315.15 crores INR has also been approved for the implementation of the quota in the CEIs.
