Vocational courses to be rolled out for students

Vocational Courses will be launched phase wise for the schools to skill development avenues, as part of the Centre’s flagship skilling scheme Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 3.0.

According to the survey for the fiscal year ending march said only 2.4% of India’s workforce in the age group of 15-59 years have received vocational training while other 8.9% received training from other sources.

Out of 8.9% workforce some got training by self-learning, hereditary sources and other sources. Majority workforce who received formal training was IT-ITeS.

Survey stated, “A phase wise introduction of vocational courses for school students shall be introduced in co-ordination with Ministry of Education. The component shall be implemented for class 9 to 12 to expose students to skill development avenues”.

Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 3.0 was rolled out in 2020-21 with a target to skill 8 lakh participants, including migrants.
