Whatsapp to Stop Working on Outdated OS from Feb 1, 2020

The Facebook-owned app marked February 1, 2020, as the deadline for users of iOS 8 and Android 2.3.7 to either upgrade their software or loose Whatsapp service on those phones.

According to the update, users of the outdated OS will no longer be able to “create new accounts or reversify existing accounts.” Users will require iOS 9 or Android 2.3.7 and later to continue using the instant messaging app.

It added that the modified functionality of jailbroken devices will not permit Whatsapp to offer support for the modified OS versions. Using the latest software from authorized sources continues to be the popular advice for all smartphone users.
