With 180% Growth, Chinese Smartphone Brands Pushing Indian Companies out of the Picture

Chinese phonemakers have managed to capture a whopping 49% of the Indian mobile phone market in the first quarter of 2017, which is an 180% increase from last year.

According to a recent report released by CyberMediaResearch, the growing Chinese mobile phones popularity is posing a major threat to the Indian manufacturers in the same domain. According to its “India Quarterly Mobile Handset Market Review,” the net revenue generated by Indian mobile handset makers dropped 80% sequentially quarter-on-quarter, as the figure stood at Rs 346,295 million for the first quarter.

While Xiaomi and Itel have become the top Chinese players with 27% market share, the remaining portion is also taken by several other small players.
