MBA from India vs The UK
August 16, 2019
If you want to advance your career, then there are various things you can do for that. For instance, you can take a certification course that can equip you with new skills. You can also go for a master’s degree such as an MBA.
If you are interested in doing an MBA program, there are many options available for you out in the world. You can choose to do it in your own country or go abroad to study. As we are specifically talking about India and the UK, let’s look at their distinctive features:
1. Admission Criteria
In India, you can apply for the traditional 2-year MBA programs by scoring good marks in popular entrance exams like CAT and MAT. However, for international programs, the process is more elaborate. This is because not only you have to get a good GRE or GMAT score, but you also need to show excellent academic performance and extracurricular involvement and do well in a personal interview.
2. Geographical preference
If you don’t really want to work abroad and wish to settle in India itself, then an MBA degree from an Indian business school is certainly a good idea. However, if you are comfortable living away from family and working in the top foreign companies, then naturally, you should opt for an MBA degree from a UK university.
3. Learning Experience
You learn about business management under an MBA program through different methods including lectures, assignments, discussions, etc. However, international MBA programs focus a lot on class diversity which means that you also get to make friends with and learn from students from other countries. You also become more self-confident and outspoken when studying abroad as you have to live away from the comfort of your home country.
As you can see, both national and international MBA programs have their advantages and disadvantages. Your decision should depend on your needs. That said, there are ways to get a UK MBA degree here in India itself.
