₹1,000 cr to be Spent by the Govt to Upgrade Power Network

An official from the power department said that the government of Goa is looking to spend up to ₹1,000 crores to upgrade the electricity transmission and distribution network across the state. They said that the tendering process for the project will begin after the model code of conduct that was put into effect in light of Lok Sabha elections is removed. However, permission from the administration has already been received, they said.

The official said that one of the main goals of the power network upgrading is to reduce the transmission and distribution losses to 5% from the current 18%.
