₹411 cr Revenue Generated with Casinos in Goa, Says CM

This Wednesday, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that the state government generated around 411 crores worth of revenue from offshore and onshore casinos during the financial year 2018-19. He was presenting the Performance Budget for Home Department before the Legislative Assembly when he said that under the Goa, Daman and Diu Public Gambling Act, 1976, there are 8 onshore and 6 offshore casinos operating in the state.
Although casinos provide a sizeable income to Goa’s government, many social organizations have raised voices against casinos and called them a social evil.
