10% of Manufacturing Jobs to be Wiped Out by Robots by 2030
June 28, 2019
According to a report by Oxford Economics, robots may kill almost a tenth of the world’s manufacturing jobs by 2030 mainly in the lower-income areas in developed countries. It said that automation will improve the economy but also create more inequality as job losses will emerge in select sectors and countries.
The report said that as many as 20 million positions could be wiped out by robots from the manufacturing sector by 2030. It also said that workers in labor-intensive and traditional trade in rural areas will be most vulnerable to job loss due to automation.
