100% Households to be Electrified Before Republic Day, Says Official

A government official said that the Center is looking to achieve the target of 100% household electrification in the country ahead of this Republic Day itself. They said that the government has already covered 2.39 crore households out of the total 2.49 crore households under the Saubhagya scheme i.e. the Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana.
The official said that the work was delayed due to elections and some Maoist issues. However, the government may achieve its target ahead of Republic Day (January 26. 2019).
