2-Year Extension Given to NITI Aayog Head Amitabh Kant

The tenure of NITI Aayog’s Chief Executive Officer Amitabh Kant has been extended by 2 years by the government. It was supposed to end on June 30.
Kant’s tenure extension was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet for a period of 2 years after June 30, 2019. The new date of tenure completion is June 30, 2021. The terms and conditions will remain the same, a minister said.
Kant, who is an IAS officer of the 1980 batch, was appointed as the CEO of the think-tank body for the first time in 2016.
