3,000 Maruti Suzuki Workers Laid off

A top executive of Maruti Suzuki has laid off more than 3,000 temporary employees in light of the ongoing slump in the automobile industry. Company Chairman R C Bhargava said that while the permanent workers haven’t been impacted, the temporary workers’ contracts haven’t been renewed.

Japanese auto giant Nissan may also scale down operations in India as its sales are in the red in the country.
