5G Spectrum in India Priced 40% Higher than International Rates, Says COAI

According to the Cellular Operators’ Association of India (COAI), the recommended base price of the 5G network is around 30% to 40% higher than the rates in the global markets. COAI Director General Rajan Mathews said that most of the operators have raised concerns on the pricing of the spectrum and said that their balance sheets can’t afford it.

This Monday, the Center announced that it will proceed with the auctioning of the spectrum which includes 5G. Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has also set a deadline of 100 days for launching 5G trials across the country.
