6% Temporary Workforce Slashed by Maruti Suzuki in Light of Sluggish Sales

According to a Reuters’ report, India’s top automaker, Maruti Suzuki is observing poor sales and has cut its temporary workforce by 6% in view of the same. It also said that the sales are likely to be slow this month too as the retail sentiment is weak.

It’s worth noting that Maruti has slashed production rate of vehicles for five months from February to June to maintain inventory level.

A while back, Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) had warned that 1 million workers out of a total 5 million could lose jobs if the slowdown in the auto sector persists.
