BMW Joins Hands with Microsoft for Industrial Cloud Technology Partnership
This Tuesday, BMW Group and Microsoft Corp inked a pact to launch an Open Manufacturing Platform to encourage innovation and push the growth of “smart” factories. Executive vice president of Microsoft Cloud and AI Group Scott Guthrie said that the partnership will “transform digital production efficiency across the country”.

The platform will be based on Microsoft’s Azure IoT cloud service and follow open-source standards to encourage more companies to become a part of it. BWM is already using the platform with over 3,000 machines and robots.
