Cabinet Gives Green Signal to ₹1 Trillion for Railway Stations’ Modernization Plan
The Union Cabinet has sanctioned a new policy for the modernization of railway stations in India. Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation (IRSDC) has been made the nodal agency for the projects for now. The lease period for the corporation has also been increased to 99 years.

Union Minister for Electronics and IT Ravi Shankar Prasad said that railways will take a cluster approach in the policy rather than the station-wise or zone-wise allotment of projects. He said that 600 railway stations have already been selected for the plan which will require an investment of ₹1 trillion.
