CIAT Suggests to Make Sale of Liquor Through Digital Payments Only

Yesterday, traders body Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) suggested the government that the liquor sales should be allowed only through a digital mode of payment.

CAIT sent a letter to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in which it said that by linking liquor sale with digital payments, black money can be curbed to a great extent. It also said that currently liquor sale is mostly facilitated with cash only.

Since the liquor industry is growing at a rate of about 30% per year (as mentioned in the letter), digital payments have the potential to crack the whip on the black money in the growing industry.
