Construction of Additional 1.4 Lakh Houses Under PMAY (U) Announced by Govt

This Thursday, the government gave a nod to the construction of 1.4 lakh more houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) for the urban region. The Union Housing and Affairs Ministry said that Uttar Pradesh got approval for the maximum number of houses which is 54,277, followed by West Bengal that got approval for 26,585 houses, and Gujarat with 26,183 houses, Assam with 9,328 houses, Maharashtra with 8,499 houses, Chhattisgarh with 6,507 houses, Rajasthan with 4,947 houses, and Haryana with 3,808 houses. The total number of projects involved are 492 and they are expected to set the exchequer back by ₹6,642 crores.
