Cost of EVs to Become Comparable to Fossil Fuel Cars in 4 Years, Says Amitabh Kant

This Wednesday, NITI Aayog head Amitabh Kant said that electric cars are projected to start costing no higher than petrol and diesel cars within 3-4 years. He said that this will be mainly on the back of lower battery prices and the fact that India is preparing for the transition.
Kant said that in India, there are 28 cars for every 1,000 people against the UK and the US where there are 850 and 980 cars for 1,000 people. He said that this means that as India will move towards urbanization, prevalent mobility will be electric and connected.
