The central government said that it has taken up highway projects of about Rs. 34,100 crores to decongest New Delhi and is also seeking Delhi government’s support to facilitate the work.

Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has started the development and decongestion of several national highways viz. NH-1, NH-8, and NH-24.

Some of the issues that require Delhi government’s support include cutting of about 1,900 trees for the Dhaulakuan junction and land acquisition for Dwarka Expressway.
