Electoral Bonds Fetch Rs 222 cr in First Issue

In a recently written reply to the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Finance P Radhakrishnan said that the first issue of the electoral bonds scheme collected Rs. 222 crores as of March 9, 2018. The subscription for these bonds was opened for 10 days i.e. from March 1 to March 9.
Electoral bonds were introduced by the finance minister Arun Jaitley during union budget 2017-18. These are meant to be bought by donors who want to fund the political parties of their choice.
