IT, Electronics Industry Seek GST Reforms

At the pre-budget meeting with the Finance Ministry Arun Jaitley, the IT and electronics components industry brought up the issues pertaining to service tax refunds and the Goods and Service Tax regime as they urged for resolution.

Nasscom, along with other IT groups such as Manufacturers’ Association for Information Technology (MAIT) and Electronic Industries Association of India (ELCINA) asked the ministry to impose a duty on telecom and technology products that are not covered by the IT Agreement signed by India.

According to the industry stakeholders, if the government approves their request, then the domestic IT and Telecom manufacturing could get a big push towards growth.
