Flipkart is entering the food retail business in India

CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy announced on Tuesday that Walmart-owned Flipkart is all set to enter the food retail business in India.

This decision formed because Flipkart is looking to expand its reach in the nation and will be known as “Flipkart FarmerMart”.

Flipkart FarmerMart will help sell locally-produced and packaged food products directly to consumers, both online and offline.

Flipkart has already authorized to invest $258 million dollars in this venture.

Now the question remains, how Flipkart plans to tackle its competitors such as BigBasket, Amazon, and Grofers.
