FMCG companies eye launch of digital first brands

As consumers majority of Indians focus on online grocery shopping, FMCG products manufacturers are boosting the launch of digital first brands and rolling out more online specific stock keeping units. Marico Ltd and Dabur India ltd are eyeing new launches.

Mohit Malhotra, chief executive, Dabur India said, “The pandemic has led to the shift in consumer behaviour towards online shopping. According to the emerging trend, company has started launching a series of products for online platforms. In the past few months our company has launched several products especially for e-commerce”.

Many FMCG firms are launching new products to attract online customers. Most companies saw surge in customers to buy products online during the lockdown. Marico plans to boost its digital transformation and create two three online brands.

Saugata Gupta, MD & CEO, Marico said, “Our Company has a separate business unit that to create and manage digital brands that operates independently. We believe that we should be able to replicate Beardos in next 2-3 years”.
