Foreign Companies in Multi-Brand Retail Won’t be Permitted in India, Says Piyush Goyal

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said that the Center won’t allow foreign firms to operate in the multi-brand segment in India and that those engaging in predatory pricing will be identified for appropriate action by the government.

Goyal had a meeting with the representatives of associations of various Kirana stores recently when he disclosed the government’s stance on predatory pricing. He also asked the representatives to send their suggestions for the draft e-commerce policy which will be finalized by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPI).
