Goa Govt. Cuts Road Tax in Half; Blames BJP for Bad Economy

The Goa government announced a 50 per cent cut in road tax on the purchase of new vehicles in an effort to boost the state’s sluggish auto industry. State Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho expressed concerns over the 17 per cent decline in the overall registration of vehicles in the state. The discount, however, is only set only for a period of three months starting October.

Goa Congress president Girish Chodankar underlined the BJP government’s failure to manage the country’s economy as the ‘hard truth’ that led to a common man’s inability to afford vehicles. But with festivals like Diwali and Dussehra coming up, this move can greatly benefit potential vehicle owners in Goa.
