Google acquired Fitbit for $2.1b

Google made an announcement on Friday that it had bought Fitbit for $2.1b.

This news is certainly huge and has raised concerns over user data.

But Fitbit assured that it will remain transparent about users’ data and won’t break the security guidelines that have remained a part of Fitbit since day one.

Google wants to build fitness band hardware and make it into a smartwatch and Fitbit is going to help them do it.

Before Google, Facebook was also in talks with Fitbit to acquire this tech. But Google beat it and struck a deal by doubling the amount for the acquisition.
