Govt to Soon Announce Big Plans for Merger of Public Sector Banks

More than a few sources have confirmed that the ruling government shall soon disclose its plans for merging a slew of public sector banks (PSBs) in the country. They said that the finance ministry has summoned the chiefs of as many as 10 PSBs that are seen as the ideal entities for the consolidation. These are Andhra Bank, Syndicate Bank, Corporation Bank, Allahabad Bank, United Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce, Canara Bank, Union Bank of India, and Punjab National Bank.
